Amarillo Area Curiosity Club (AACC)

Stay Curious

Curiosity Untamed - Quest Clubs are an alternative or supplement to traditional scouting programs. They offer the structure and friendship of a scouting style program, but have unlimited badges, a wide variety of higher awards, and great flexibility for how you want to do it. WITH NO FUNDRAISING REQUIREMENTS!!!

Amarillo Area Curiosity Club is a local chapter of Quest Clubs geared toward bringing a scouting alternative to the Amarillo area homeschooling community. We meet once a month to complete activities, earn badges, and spend time learning as a group and as families.

About AACC

Who We Are:

As the number of homeschooling families continues to grow in the Amarillo area, a need has arisen for more homeschool friendly activities. Started by homeschooling families, Curiosity Club was created to help fill that need. Curiosity club allows for our children to spend time together, exploring new topics of interest and delving deeper into topics they are already interested in.

What We Do:

At each curiosity club meeting, we will explore new topics based around 9 areas of discovery (Agriculture, Art, Character, Health and Safety, The Home, Knowledge, The Outdoors, Science and Technology, and The World). Upon completing the requirements for each new topic, participants will earn a badge. With 6 different levels of knowledge for each topic, ranging from preschool to adult, families are encouraged to participate in the club together. Each month we will celebrate our achievements and discuss our next topic of study. Currently we have a meeting for ages pre-K through 11, but we are gauging interest to begin holding meetings for higher ages. See below for more info:

Can Curiosity Untamed badges be used to supplement other programs such as Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts?

Yes. Curiosity Untamed is a very flexible program and is designed to work with any program you may already have in place. Just keep in mind that while you can use our badges to supplement current scouting programs, adding a wide variety of badges and awards to your program, other organizations will not allow you to wear our badges and awards on their uniforms. Curiosity Untamed badges and awards may be displayed on a uniform that you design, on tote bags, backpacks, jackets, shadow boxes, magnet boards, etc.

Are there any uniform requirements?

AACC does not have a uniform requirement, although you can purchase a vest to display your badges and awards if you would like.

How can we display badges and awards?

Be creative! You can display them however you want. Create a shadow box, attach them to a canvas tote, or display them on a vest or sash. Vests are available for purchase through AACC at an additional cost.

Are parents required to stay for the meetings?

AACC participants ages 3-8 must have a parent/guardian present for the duration of the meeting. Ages 9 and up are allowed to stay without a parent/guardian. All parents/guardians that do not stay will be required to sign their children in and out of the meeting and provide a working phone number in case of emergency.

Does AACC have a religious affiliation?

No. However, we follow the Curiosity Untamed Moral Code that teaches and encourages our participants to show positive character traits.

Curiosity Untamed Moral Code:
I will be Loving, treating others as I would like to be treated.

I will be Joyful, finding the blessings in every situation.

I will be Peaceful, respecting others’ opinions and beliefs.

I will be Patient, persevering toward my goals despite obstacles.

I will be Kind, respectful to all and willing to help others at all times.

I will be Good, pure in all I do, think, and say.

I will be Faithful to my family, friends, and country.

I will be Gentle, taking special care of those weaker or less fortunate than I.

I will have Self Control, using my time, materials and talents wisely, and

being accountable for my own actions.

What if I miss a meeting?

Our meetings our set up in a way that participants complete all requirements of badges during the meetings. Missing a meeting simply means you will miss earning that badge. Curiosity Untamed - Quest Clubs does not allow Clubs to distribute material to participants to be used outside of the group meetings. If you would like to have access to program materials and badge requirements outside of our regular meetings, you will need to purchase an Individual or Family Membership directly from Curiosity Untamed.
